Jason Edmonds

Jason Edmonds is a Founding Partner of Edmonds Duncan Registered Investment Advisors. He is a 3rd generation Lawrence native and a graduate of the University of Kansas. Jason began his career as a financial advisor with Piper Jaffray in 1995 and has served his clients for more than 28 years. Early in his career, he specialized in tax free municipal bonds, working with individual bond investors and banks in Kansas and Missouri. He joined his father Steve as a partner in 1998.

Jason has served as Chair of the Lawrence Chamber of Commerce, Lawrence Convention and Visitors Bureau, Lawrence Arts Center, Friends of the Lied Center, and Douglas County Estate Planning Council. He has also been a board member of Theater Lawrence, Leadership Lawrence, VanGo, and the Bert Nash Endowment.  He has served as Corporate Campaign Chair for Lawrence Memorial Hospital's Hearts of Gold every year since 2005. 

Jason and his wife Machaela have 3 wonderful children - Jack, Graham and Sarah, and a Golden Retriever named Wilson.

Don Duncan, CFP, CRPS

Donald Duncan is a Founding Partner with Edmonds Duncan Registered Investment Advisors.Don is a Certified Financial Planner and a Certified Retirement Plan Specialist.  He is a graduate of Kansas Wesleyan University, where he also played college basketball.  Don began his career as a financial advisor with Edward Jones and Co. in 1994 and has served his clients for more than 28 years. Having built his own successful advisory practice, Don became partners with Steve and Jason in 2006.

Don previously served as the Assistant District Governor for Rotary International. He has served on the board of Douglas County Hospice and VNA and is Past President of the Jayhawk Breakfast Rotary Club and the Douglas County Estate Planning Council. He is a graduate of Leadership Lawrence. 

Don and his wife Teresa have two wonderful children -  Aubrey and Kyle,  as well as two lovable pups named Maggie and Larry.

Pat Brown, MBA

As Director of Risk Management, Pat brings over 18 years of investment and insurance planning expertise to the Edmonds Duncan team.  Prior to receiving his MBA, Pat attended the University of Kansas, where he was a 3-year starter and a team captain for the Jayhawks Football program.  He began his investment career at American Century, then successfully navigated Smith Barney's training program before being recruited by Merrill Lynch.  In 2009, Pat established his own independent advisory practice, Abram Brown Consultants which merged with Edmonds Duncan RIA, LLC in October of 2019.  

Pat works with clients to identify the most efficient and cost effective means of protecting themselves and their families, businesses, and properties from losses associated with unanticipated events.  Consistent with the mission and culture of Edmonds Duncan, Pat approaches insurance from the perspective of what is in the best interests of our clients.  He is licensed to advise on and provide a wide range of insurance solutions including but not limited to Life, Disability, Long Term Care, Property and Casualty, Group Health, Event, Specialty, and Medicare Plans.  

Pat is married to his college sweetheart Cassandra Eanes-Brown.  They have two daughters - Peyton and Ryan, and a Maltese/Yorkie named Milo.  

Kevin Tietz

Kevin joined the Edmonds Duncan team in June 2023. He spent the last eight years in Lawrence as the local director of Young Life College, an international, faith-based mentoring organization. Kevin counseled students, young professionals, and married couples, including guidance in budget creation and management.

As part of the Edmonds Duncan team, Kevin enthusiastically helps professionals develop budgets to optimize debt reduction, retirement saving, and any other personal financial goals. Kevin also focuses on proactive portfolio review to ensure personal service for each client.

He is a licensed investment advisor representative and holds licenses in property, casualty, life, and health insurance for clients' risk-management needs. Consistent with the Edmonds Duncan culture, Kevin is passionate about clients' well-being, financially and holistically.

Kevin lives in Lawrence with his wife, Maggie, and three children - Lydia, Eliza, and Caleb (CJ).         

David Hollond

Portfolio Manager and Investment Committee Member.

David Hollond has 20 years of investment industry experience, including 19 years at American Century Investments. There, he was the CIO of US Growth Equity, Mid and Small Cap overseeing $10 billion in assets under management.  In addition, he was the lead portfolio manager on two strategies, a mid cap growth portfolio and an all cap growth, with combined assets under management of $9 billion.  He attended Grinnell College where he obtained degrees in Economics and Russian, the University of Wisconsin where he obtained an MS in Economics, the University of Pennsylvania where he obtained an MA in International Studies, and an MBA in Finance. 

Phil Kosmala CFA

Phillip J. Kosmala, Co-Founder of Taiber Kosmala & Associates, LLC has been in the investment consulting industry for over 15 years. Prior to establishing the firm, he worked at Lowery Asset Consulting, acting in several leadership, research, and consulting capacities including positions of Executive Vice President, Director of Manager Research, Chief Compliance Officer, and Chairman of the firm’s investment committee. Phil and his team had the responsibility of advising a national client base of endowments, foundations, plan sponsors, and affluent families. Additionally, he headed the firm’s manager research efforts and chaired the firm’s investment committee charged with capital markets research, tactical asset allocation, and manager research & diligence.

Prior to that, Phil held senior research and investment consulting roles at DiMeo Schneider & Associates, LLC. Here he was acting Chairman of the Investment Committee and Manager Research Director. In the early 1990’s Phil spent four years with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as an auditor of money management firms and registered investment advisors, which made for a natural extension into future manager research & diligence and chief compliance officer roles.

Phil has been quoted in various national media publications and has made several appearances at various industry conferences throughout his career. He holds a bachelor’s degree in finance from DePaul University, has been awarded the CFA designation, and is a member of the CFA Institute & CFA Society of Chicago.
